Kurt is biologic material developer and advisor. He has over 29 years of experience in instrumentation design, tissue engineering, cellular therapies, allograft and xenograft biologic product development. An early pioneer of bridging gaps between the biotechnology and transplant communities, he has served in executive roles with human tissue banks for the American Red Cross, RTI Biologics, and CryoLife and has been a Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (AATB) since 1993. In 2011 Kurt was recognized by MN Business Magazine, Leaders in Healthcare Awards for “Outstanding Achievement/Innovation in Biopharmaceuticals”.

Many of the 40 plus client companies Kurt has worked with are now the leaders in regenerative medicine and medical devices include Endo/American Medical Systems, Collagenesis, Stryker, Cell Dynamics, Osteotech, Allergan, RTI Surgical, BioDLogics/Integra, Abbott Labs, CryoLife, Zimmer, KCI LifeCell, C R Bard/Davol, Stryker, Medtronic Spine & Biologics, INCELL, mVASC Technologies, WuXi-AppTec, Warburg-Pincus, Vertical Group, Globus/Transplant Technologies of TX, BioBridge Global, Keystone Dental, Wright Medical and Tornier.

During his tenure at Endo/AMS, Kurt developed the core technologies used in InteDerm ®, InteXen LP ®, and BioTape XM®, licensed to Wright Medical, two are being sold on the market today. He is also the inventor of SteriMatrix® human dermis grafts licensed to Bone Bank Allografts and an orthobiologics portfolio of products licensed to BioBridge Global/GenCure Tissue Services.

Kurt has developed physician on-site and off-site bio-skills labs, QARA protocols and physician training programs for Endo/American Medical Systems, Spinewave, Tornier and consulted for many other programs. Since 2004 thousands of physicians have been trained in these programs.
